# Delete a tracked prompt

> Deletes a prompt. It stops running and frees its allowance slot at once; its history is kept and restorePrompt brings it back. Pass your own requestId to retry safely: the same requestId returns the recorded result. A prompt that is already deleted, or outside this project, returns 404. Requires the prompts.write scope.
