Account Settings is where you manage your personal profile, notification preferences, appearance, and security options.

Accessing Settings

  1. Click on your profile icon in the header
  2. Select Settings
  3. You will see a tabbed interface with Profile and Notifications sections

Profile Tab

Display Name

Your display name appears throughout DevTune:
  • In team member lists
  • On project activity
  • In notifications sent to other team members
To update your display name:
  1. Go to the Profile tab
  2. Edit the name field
  3. Save your changes

Email Address

Your email is used for:
  • Account login (email/password or magic link)
  • Receiving notification emails
  • Password recovery
  • Receiving team invitations
To change your email:
  1. Go to the Profile tab
  2. Edit the email field
  3. A confirmation email is sent to the new address
  4. Verify the new email to complete the change

Profile Picture

Upload a profile picture that appears next to your name:
  1. Go to the Profile tab
  2. Click the avatar area to upload a new image
  3. Select an image file
  4. The picture is saved automatically

Notifications Tab

The Notifications tab lets you control what alerts you receive and how. There are four notification sections:

Test Completions

Control notifications for when search tracking tests finish running. Toggle on/off to receive notifications when new test data is available for review.

Visibility Alerts

Enable alerts for significant visibility changes. Configure threshold values to control sensitivity — for example, alert when presence rate drops by more than a specified percentage.

Team Updates

Receive notifications about:
  • New team members joining
  • Member departures
  • Role changes
  • Invitation activity

Product Updates

Control notifications about:
  • New DevTune features and improvements
  • Important platform announcements

Per-Project Overrides

You can configure notification overrides on a per-project basis. This allows different alert thresholds or notification settings for each project, so you can monitor critical projects more closely while reducing noise from secondary ones.

Theme

Choose your visual preference from the theme toggle:
  • Light mode - Light background with dark text
  • Dark mode - Dark background with light text
  • System - Automatically matches your operating system setting
The theme toggle is accessible from the header area.

Security

Password Management

If you use email/password authentication:
  1. Go to your account settings
  2. Find the password management section
  3. Enter your current password
  4. Set a new password
  5. Confirm the new password
  6. Save changes
Password best practices:
  • Use a strong, unique password
  • Do not reuse passwords across services
  • Consider using a password manager

Authentication Methods

DevTune supports the following authentication methods:
  • Email and password - Traditional login
  • Magic link - Passwordless login via email
  • OTP (One-Time Password) - Verification codes sent via email

Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA)

For additional security, you can enable TOTP-based multi-factor authentication:
  1. Go to your security settings
  2. Enable Two-Factor Authentication
  3. Scan the QR code with your authenticator app
  4. Enter the verification code to confirm
  5. Save your recovery codes in a secure location

Account Deletion

To permanently delete your personal account:
  1. Go to your account settings
  2. Find the account deletion option
  3. Review the implications (all personal data will be permanently removed)
  4. Complete OTP verification to confirm your identity
  5. Confirm the deletion
Warning: Account deletion is permanent. All personal account data is permanently removed. If you are the primary owner of a team, you must transfer ownership before deleting your personal account.
Before deleting:
  • Transfer ownership of any teams you own
  • Cancel any active subscriptions
  • Ensure you have saved any data you need

Common Tasks

Updating Your Email

  1. Go to Settings, Profile tab
  2. Edit the email field
  3. Check your new email for a verification link
  4. Click the verification link to complete the change

Changing Your Password

  1. Go to Settings
  2. Find the password management section
  3. Enter your current password
  4. Enter and confirm your new password
  5. Save changes

Configuring Notifications

  1. Go to Settings, Notifications tab
  2. Toggle the notification types you want to receive
  3. Set threshold values for visibility alerts
  4. Configure per-project overrides if needed
  5. Save preferences

Troubleshooting

Can’t Update Profile

If profile updates are not saving:
  • Check for validation errors on the form
  • Ensure required fields are filled
  • Try refreshing the page
  • Contact support if the issue persists

Notification Issues

If notifications are not working:
  • Check that the notification type is enabled in the Notifications tab
  • Verify your email address is correct
  • Check spam/junk folders for email notifications
  • Ensure browser notifications are permitted (for in-app alerts)

API Keys & Webhooks

Team accounts on the Plus plan and above have access to API Keys and Webhooks under the Settings section of the sidebar.
  • API Keys — Create and manage API keys for programmatic access to your project data.
  • Webhooks — Set up webhook subscriptions to receive real-time notifications when events occur in your projects (e.g., tracking runs completing, visibility changes).
